unsafe
The haunting images in this gallery reflect the legacy of colonialism and rapid social and political change in Africa over the past fifty years. They show us a world in which there is no safety, even as people try to move on from difficult histories. The same lack of safety is present in the bitter satires of Francisco de Goya some two hundred years earlier.
