belief vs reason
Artists have always been interested in themes of belief and reason. Goya’s iconic print and Yinka Shonibare’s photographic version of it link the abandonment of reason to debates around identity, race, and colonisation. Harrison’s Black Christ highlights the relationship between belief, reason, and political strife. The mythological characters of Armitage and Kentridge highlight the absurdity of life in modern-day Africa.
