Zwelidumile Geelboi Mgxaji Mslaba “Dumile” Feni (1942, Worcester, S.A. - 1991, Los Angeles) became famous around the world for drawings and sculptures about the hardships and resistance of life under apartheid. He is sometimes called the “Goya of the townships” because of how he captured small moments of humanity in the midst of injustice. Having gone into exile in the USA in 1979, he was never able to return, dying far from home before the end of apartheid.
